The Storm’s will blow but they will also cease!
And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the winds ceased, and there was a great calm.” — Mark 4:39 (KJV)
Someone’s boat is already taking on water. The diagnosis arrived before breakfast; the eviction notice slid under the door while the children slept; the text message that changes everything buzzed you awake at 3:12 a.m. and you have not breathed right since. The Master meets us right there; on the sea, in the dark, where the only thing louder than the thunder is your own heart begging, “Lord, carest thou not that we perish?”
Look at the text: Jesus was already in the ship before the storm started. He did not scramble aboard after the first wave slapped the bow; He was pre-loaded mercy, pre-positioned power. The tempest did not scare Him awake. He was asleep because the storm was never bigger than His rest. And when the disciples cried, He did not offer a seminar on meteorology; He arose. One word from the Word, and chaos became carpet beneath His feet.
What is your storm calling you this morning? Cancer? Court date? A child whose choices break your heart every time the phone rings? Hear the Savior speak over your squall: “Peace, be still.” The Greek is stronger than our English; it literally means “Be muzzled!” The same mouth that spoke galaxies into orbit speaks gag orders to winds that threaten your destiny. Hell can howl, but it cannot have the last word when Heaven has already spoken your name.
Lift up your head! The boat will not sink; the sea will not swallow; the storm will not outlast the Savior. If Christ is in your vessel, then your destination is guaranteed, even if the deck is wet. The winds obeyed Him then, and they still take orders now. So we confess with the elders: “I don’t know what the future holds, but I know who holds the future.” Let every wave become a baptismal font that washes you deeper into trust. And when you make it to the other side… bone-soaked yet belief-soaked…tell somebody else that the One who silenced your storms can silence theirs as well.
